Givenchy, and an explanation.

I have this thing about blending eye makeup.  It's really hard to get right and I feel like most people have not mastered the skill. Myself included.  It's one reason why I focus mostly on lips for my personal makeup application.  The eyes just take too long and with my perfectionist ways I would never be pleased.  A lot of times I see makeup from the runways and get annoyed with the lack of blending.  I mean, I named my blog after it for chrisakes!  (actually I got the name in part from Edward Scissorhands.  the scene where the Mom and Edward are trying to cover up his facial scars and she says- "blend and blend and blend, blending is the key"! And it is.)  All that aside, when I saw these pics from the Givenchy runway, I almost started hyperventilating.  The application is so amazing and blended perfectly.  Now I think I should get out all my black glittery stuff and practice until I get it right!

Liberty of London for Target

OMG Ya'll!
I am so excited for this collaboration!  I thought this was only going to be clothing, but it also includes home furnishings, gardening supplies, and even a bike!  I am especially coveting some throw pillows and that adorable teapot and mugs in the B&W flowered pattern.
Out on March 14.

Marc Jacobs

This week I have decided to blog randomly about fashion week, whatever I think is good or inspires me. I didn't feel like sticking to the regular schedule cuz I'm feeling rather disorganized and out of sorts and still sort of reeling from the news about A.McQ.
First I would like to talk about Marc Jacobs:
Just pure unadulterated genius.  The models walked to "Somewhere over the rainbow".

One to Watch Wednesday- Garance Dore

If you don't already know about Garance Dore, I'm not really sure how to describe her to you. Photographer/Blogger/Illustrator? Parisian/Most Stylish Woman in the World/Inspiration to Many? Suffice it to say, I just adore her and reading her blog is always the highlight of my day.
You should also check out this months Interview magazine for a wonderful profile of her life.

Style Icon Tuesday- Abbie Cornish as Fanny Brawne in "Bright Star"

I finally watched this movie and I am obsessed. I have loved Ben Whishaw since I saw "Perfume, Love Story of a Murderer", but it was nice to see him play a somewhat normal character of lovesick poet. Abbie Cornish was amazing too and I loved that her character was a fashion designer, it just added a great element to the film that made me adore it more. Watch it now!

Bright Star
Bright star, would I were steadfast as thou art —
Not in lone splendour hung aloft the night
And watching, with eternal lids apart,
Like Nature's patient, sleepless Eremite,
The moving waters at their priestlike task
Of pure ablution round earth's human shores,
Or gazing on the new soft-fallen mask
Of snow upon the mountains and the moors —
No — yet still stedfast, still unchangeable,
Pillow'd upon my fair love's ripening breast,
To feel for ever its soft fall and swell,
Awake for ever in a sweet unrest,
Still, still to hear her tender-taken breath,
And so live ever — or else swoon to death.

New(ish) Product Monday- Shiseido by Dick Page Perfect Rouge Lipstick

Yummy.
This line actually came out last Spring, and I considered it to be a revolution of sorts. In the lipstick world anyway!
Gloss has held sway for quite some time now. At some point I started to become sick of that, and started looking for new ideas in lipstick, especially matte formulas. I loved Lipstick Queen, and bought the occasional MAC formula, but I was looking for something not only easier to find but also groundbreaking. And Mr. Dick Page, artistic director at Shiseido, came to my rescue with this new collection. There are three especially great things about it:

1. The formula. I have NEVER felt anything like it. They glide on so smoothly, provide moisture without being too glossy, and the color saturation is just perfect and lasts for hours.
2. The colors. They are AMAZING. Some of them might look intense, too orange or violet, but I urge you to try them on because they look great on just about anyone.
3. This is from SHISEIDO, a line I consider to be boring and past it's time. That makes it even more groundbreaking.

They now have two more formulas, Perfect Rouge Tender Sheer (sheer tints) and Perfect Rouge Glowing Matte (matte formulas). They are both revolutionary too!

Look of the Week- Braids & Simplicity

I seem to be going through the most annoying phase (especially for a makeup artist) of not wanting to wear or apply a lot of makeup. This girl is what I want to look like right now!

One to Watch Wednesday- Make Nice Craft

My dear friend Polly has an awesome new crafting blog! It's called Make Nice and it's on readymade.com.
I'm so excited for her, and I love having an awesome new blog to read! She has already convinced me to start cross-stitching again, so get over there, check it out and get inspired yourself!

Style Icon Tuesday- Lapo Elkann

I don't normally find myself inspired by mens fashion, but lately I have started to pay more attention. I think i have The Sartorialist to thank for that!
One of my faves is Lapo Elkann. He always looks cool, but a little crazy & scrubby. When his grandfather passed away, he inherited his wardrobe and now mixes the older, custom made wardrobe with his newer up to date pieces. I heart him.
