Bouquet

Haven't you always wanted to be that person who buys fresh flowers every week and places them dramatically about their home?  I have.  I think I may give it a try for a while!
Ranunculus are my second favorite flower and I got these for a song at T Joe's.
I arranged them in a cut glass crystal vase that I bought at a garage sale in Bandon, Oregon years ago.  I remember trying to decide between a cute vintage purse and this vase.  You have to understand that at the time I was way more into fashion than I was into home decor.  But my future self reached back across time and whispered "Get the vase, you won't regret it".  Future self was right!  I love it and use it quite a bit.  It goes well with every kind of flower.

Watermelon

Every Spring, girls go new clothes/shoes/accessories/makeup crazy.
Ladies, you know what I'm talking about.
I bought this striped shirt (Old Navy) and nail polish (Essie's e-nuf is e-nuf) last weekend and am currently on the lookout for more bright shades to add to my life.  I have a feeling lots of posts about fashion are headed this way- lately it's all I can think, talk, and daydream about!

Favorite Flower

Because it means Spring is right around the corner.

(I'm still on the fence about loafers.  Thoughts?)

Vegas Photos, Part III

I'm kind of obsessed with the fountains at the Bellagio.
Taken with the Hipstamatic iPhone app, Bettie XL lens & Cano Canefol film.

Vegas Photos, Part I

I went a little crazy taking photos at the flower garden at the Bellagio.
I think these would make super awesome wallpaper patterns!

The New Look

Happy Monday Everybody!
I had a great weekend resting and recharging in Las Vegas with my cousins.  I took lots of pictures and can't wait to share some of them with you tomorrow.  But for now, what do you think of my new look?  Isn't it the best?
It's been in the works for a while now, my dear friend Krista Messer is a genius designer and printmaker and she helped me to design the new look and it turned out perfectly.  She made the process really easy, I just told her about things and colors that I like and then she came back to me with some great ideas.  You should really check out her website and blog, she has an amazing and creative style of design and a great eye.
I also love looking at her Etsy shop, look at this valentine she created, perfect for that special one in your life-

She has a way of putting things together that I never would have thought of, and it always turns out beautifully.
Thank You Krista!

Weekend Getaway

I'm so excited for this weekend!  I took a few days off from work and am heading to Las Vegas to visit my cousins.  Girls weekend y'all!  Plans already hatched:
1.  Jane Eyre & Singing In The Rain viewings.
2.  Wine/Alcohol consumption.
3.  Food coma.
4.  Mani/Pedi action.
5.  Gossip fest.
Don't mind me while I take a few days off from life & the blog to recharge my batteries.  Have a great weekend, I'll see you Monday with some new & exciting things around here!

PS-That pic above is what I want to dress like all summer.  Perfection.

Wednesday Pattern

Lately I just haven't been feeling very talkative.  I can't seem to find words that express my feelings and writing posts about somewhat unimportant things makes me squirm.  I am finding joy behind the lens again and I'd like to share some photos of things around me.

Thrift Score

I realized recently that I have no platters and/or serving dishes.
How am I supposed to throw a dinner party without these necessary household items?
I set out to the thrifts with this item specifically in mind, and here is what I found.  One platter is rectangular shaped and vintage in the cutest way, the other is a ceramic round with a neutral glaze.  I think they go together rather well!

Rainy Monday

I had an appointment a few blocks away from my apartment this morning, so I walked over (not something I do very much in LA!) and took these pics on the way.  It was very stormy yesterday in Los Angeles, and continues to be gray and drizzly today.  I hope the sun comes back soon.

What's For Dinner?

Sausage, Chard, & Lemon Lasagna

Happy Monday everyone!  Sometimes I just love the start of a new week don't you?  I love waking up and reading all the blogs, happy that everyone is back to inspiring others after a couple days off.  This weekend, while staying inside and hiding from the rain, I did a little cooking.
I made this dish (it's Martha's recipe) and it was pretty good, but not the best thing ever.  A lot of the comments on this recipe said the lemon in it tasted too strong, like a cleaning product, so I purposefully got an organic lemon to cut down on the chemically taste.  But I agreed, it was just too lemony.  So I picked them out and it was perfect, just a hint of citrus to offset the other flavors.  I plan on making this again in the future, but instead of including the lemon slices, I will try one of my favorite tricks I learned over on 101 Cookbooks.  The trick is this- when making a casserole of any kind, grate a little lemon zest on the bottom of your dish.  I did this with regular meat lasagna and it was genius, it brightened the flavor a lot without being being obvious.  I think with just one small change this Sausage, Chard, & Lemon Lasagna will be a winner!
Recipe after the break.

It's The Little Things

Yesterday was a long and difficult day of work for me and about 3/4 of the way through, I was really dragging.  I asked myself- What do I need to do to make it through today?  The answer- a delicious brownie.
I bought it, ate it and it totally worked.  Problem solved.
Sometimes it's the little things.

Want/Need

Swedish Hasbeens are the cutest shoes ever y'all.  But do you know how expensive they are?  The cute little perforated loafer above is $350!
Luckily H&M is coming to our rescue.  They are doing a designer collaboration with Hasbeens and bringing 3 new styles to stores on April 20th.  The best part?  They will be between $59-$69.
See you in line!
