L'oreal HIP (high intensity pigments)

For a long time now, the biggest difference between drugstore and department store makeup (besides the price, and sadly that is getting closer every day) has been the intensity and pigment of the colors. The difference has been most obvious on eyeshadows, but also on blush and lipgloss. Many department store brands are known for having a higher color impact in their products, most noticeably MAC, and Lancome, who just released a high-intensity eyeshadow line called Color Design, $14.50 each. Finally, drugstore brands are jumping on the bandwagon and producing highly pigmented products for a slightly cheaper price. I recently purchased a few products from the new L'oreal HIP (high intensity pigment) line, and I was VERY impressed. I am especially obsessed with the powder eyeshadow ($7.50), which has a super creamy application, and stays very true to the color. It comes very smartly packaged, in color duos, with a mirror and brush included in the bottom of the package. *
Also, the gloss is excellent. Very similar to Dior Addict gloss, my very fav. Lipsticks are all very glossy in appearance, $10.00. Use the cream blush ($10.00) sparingly, it is very strong. Or don't play it safe, go crazy!.

You may have seen the new Max Factor commercials recently. They are also producing a very bright, colorful line very soon, stay tuned for details.

*Does anyone remember Girl Cosmetics from around 5-7 years ago? It was really cute, all the packaging had a built in mirror and brush, and they did this really awesome movie tie-in with Velvet Goldmine. Creating makeup inspired by Glam Rock? Talk about a dream job! I was so sad when the company went out of business.

Every time I go into Target I always go into the makeup alisle and just look around. I have recently seen these products you have mentioned but never dared to buy because of old experience that the pigment was bad. But considering your research I'll give it a try.

Oh y'now how it is, I am simply too busy taking cruises (being a slave at the Rack) and shopping at Dior (doing laundry) for that sort of thing. Maybe someday I will get around to it!

Our dance troupe recently took a makeup workshop with a professional who completely recommended MAC. She mentioned the pigment issue, we saw a display for the HIP in the store and decided to give it a shot.. this stuff is amazing, if you layer it over the "paint", it does not come off... it stays intense and powerful until you take it off on purpose... and I mean, we sweat out there, under the lights, and this stuff does really well. better than anything we've tried in the drugstores... Also, the HIP has the loose pigment too, if you can find it..scoop it up!!

Hi all.... the L'Oreal HIP line is almost the exact same formulations as M.A.C. They are both owned by the same parent company. I do makeup for performance and photo aplications. I use MAC mostly and have started using the HIP line just as much. They are GREAT! Biggest problem is that the color range is very limited, but hey.... it is a great product for a modest price! Try it, just be sparing.... LOL

I just purchase Loreal Hip foundation and lip gloss. I tried a little bit of the foundation but the shade was too dark. I usually use MAC because they have a wider range of colors of foundations. Loreal is okay price wise but they don't have a wide variety of makeup for the woman of color.

I started using this product last year (switch from Fashion Fair line) and LOVED it. My problem is I cannot find it in my area anymore. Please give me a link where it can be purchased in the SC/GA area or online. I NEED this product it is better than any line that I have used over the years.

I am a middle age baby boomer and I just love the H I P Lipstick because of the consistency. I goes on and sticks on your lip and does not bleed at all. The colour I love is 844 Courageous and I have been to about 4-5 Wallgreens in US and they have discontinured the product. What can I find to replace this awesome product?
So disappointed that they are no longer carrying it.

I recently purchased the HIP eyeliner and don't know how to apply it. The applicator is rigid and hurts my eyelids. Also it is permanently bent because it couldn't penetrate the powder in the container. I cut off the initial bent portion but it bent again. Any hints on what I'm doing wrong?
