Makeup Look of the Week -John Galliano Spring 2010 Ready to Wear

Oh John Galliano, I will adore you until the end of time...
Check out these makeup look from his Spring 2010 collection, by the incomparable Pat McGrath and her team:

I love this look because it perfectly illustrates what we learned the very first day in makeup school:
Question- What colors are you going to you use for your makeup design?
Answer- What are you wearing? It all starts there. Decide that first, and all the rest is frosting on the cake.

This photo makes me so hap-hap-happy! For some reason it is really hard for me to get this look down, the silver on another color. I have bought a million different eyeshadows and they just never seem to be bright enough or give that spectacular shine and difference in color that they do on the runway. Maybe it's the lights or something? The closest I have come is MAC pigments, and that is a little too glittery in texture. Everyone has to have their holy grail product search, and that bright silver is mine!

Just look at those eyebrows! I love it.

The inspiration behind the collection from Style.com: "It came from a research trip to L.A.," Galliano said. "I went around the old houses of Hollywood and imagined how stars like Tallulah Bankhead, Lillian Gish, and Mary Pickford lived." Galliano's color sense—the ice blues, silver lamés, powder pinks, and lemons—was exquisite; it was his fashion version of Sunset Boulevard.
