LA Love

As you may or may not know, I am fairly new to the Los Angeles area.
I moved here about a year and a half ago from Portland, Oregon.  While I still love Portland and miss quite a few things about it, I was so sick of the weather and just needed a change in my life.
Los Angeles has been the perfect place for me.  The weather truly brightens each and every day and I am very happy that I get to drive around all day in the sunshine!
It has also been fun to discover all the new things about this city, even though it's been slow going due to a rather limited budget, and I like creating my new routines and favorite things here.
Today I wanted to share some things I am loving about LA:

1.  La Brea Bakery Bread
I had heard of this bakery prior to moving here, and owner Nancy Silverton's stellar reputation is well deserved.  Every time I bite into a loaf of La Brea bread, I think- this is the best bread I have ever eaten!  It's that good.
2.  Griffith Park & Hiking
A lot of people talk about their favorite places to hike here, and most seem to like Runyon Canyon or hiking near the ocean, but I prefer going up to Griffith Park.  The view is amazing, visiting the planetarium is always fun, and the hiking trails are really hard so you get a great workout.
3.  Taco Trucks
Sure, we had taco trucks in Portland, but they were kind of out of the way.  Portland's food cart scene is out of control, and dare I say, even slightly better than LA (don't hate me, it's true!).  But the taco trucks here are omnipresent and every one I go to is really good!  I'm never disappointed.
4.  Buying Liquor At The Grocery Store
Can't do that in Oregon.  'Nuff said.

Yay, happy to hear you're loving LA. I haven't been to Portland but it's at the top of my domestic destinations. So, I just discovered the most amazing taco place, called Guisados. It just opened a couple months ago. And oh my, it's mouth watering delicious. Check it out if you love tacos! Have a fab weekend!

Ooh, I can't wait to check it out! If you get to visit Ptown let me know and I'll give you a huge list of recommendations, from where to stay, eat, food carts, shopping, drinking, etc.
It's a great place to visit (and thrift!)
